Back when I was a software engineer with 20+ years under my belt, I honestly thought I could do any business. I had built big e-commerce sites like bodyglove.com, shipped lots code for huge brands like American Express, and figured starting my own business would be straightforward. I had the technical skills, I had the drive and lots of business experience—I just didn't know what to build.
I changed careers from engineering to marketing over the course of 5 to 7 years. It was a massive shock to my system. Once I learned how to start bringing on clients I realized I was terrible at cold sales. Though previously I had thought I was great. The entire marketing process was a humbling experience.
I quickly realized that most marketers could not get results for their clients. So I figured this would be a great place to start to build my first real software-as-a-service company. To build something that could get people results.
I poured everything into it and struggled for years to get it off the ground. I had to partner with other people who drove tons of users in the door, revenue looked great on paper… but we couldn't keep the clients paying. Churn was brutal. Customers would sign up, try it for a little while, and then disappear.
I was barely able to pay the bills. Partnerships fell apart because the numbers only worked short-term. I felt like a complete failure—even with all my coding experience and the new marketing skills I had spent years mastering.
I walked away from those partnerships, licked my wounds, and started over.. again and again.. I created lead-gen platforms, data platforms, outbound systems—you name it. I kept launching products, getting a little traction, making some money, but nothing ever stuck and scaled the way I knew it could.
For years I kept asking myself: “Why can’t I crack this?” I had the tech. I had the marketing. Something was obviously still missing.
Then one day the obvious finally hit me—a customer told me: "I'm not going to pay unless I know I'm getting a return on my investment."
Customers don’t pay for features, tools, or even “AI.” They only pay for one specific outcome that puts money in their pocket or removes a massive pain that in turn, allows them to keep more money in their pockets. That’s it. That's the obvious truth.
Once I realized that, everything changed. Instead of building what I thought was innovative, I started focusing purely on getting an ROI for clients. I would deliver it manually at first if I had to—just to prove they’d pay—then automate it later. When I nailed that one outcome for HeroPixel (our full-stack data + AI platform), retention went through the roof, revenue exploded past seven figures, and I eventually sold the company for a life-changing exit.
That painful lesson—that you must find the exact result customers will happily pay for every month—was the real secret that turned me from a frustrated founder into someone who can now build, launch, and scale profitable software businesses on demand.
And that’s exactly why I created this 12-week program, FreedomLaunch Formula: so you don’t have to spend years and burn through partnerships and failed launches like I did. I’ll walk you step-by-step to find your million-dollar outcome, build a beta that proves people pay, hand you the MVP, and even show you how to take over with AI coding or source rock-solid developers for you—so you can get to the freedom and income part as fast as humanly possible.
Sincerely,
Jonathon Byrdziak
